Homecoming Events
The (in)famous Homecoming Bed Race (will take place Friday, September 26, 2008 at Noon on Riverside Avenue. Be sure to watch our students in costumes pushing beds down the street – it is a riot.
The Homecoming Parade is always great fun and will occur on Saturday, September 27th at 8:30 a.m. from Muncie Central and come across University and then up McKinley Boulevard.
Don't forget our 3-0 Ball State Football Cardinals will take on Kent State at Noon on Saturday, September 27th at Noon. Go Cards!

Dean's Search
Friday afternoon there was a meeting to discuss the search for a new Dean of Teachers College. Faculty members are encourage to submit qualities they would like to see in the new Dean and any information regarding people you would like to nominate. You many submit these directly to Jackie Buckrop (jbuckrop@bsu.edu) or you may communicate these to our representative Winnie Mucherah. Also, if you have any questions regarding the process please see Winnie. Thank you very much to all who attended. Your attendance was favorably noted.
Upcoming Departmental Meetings
A meeting of the Advanced Graduate Studies committee will be meeting Tuesday, September 23rd at 3:30pm in TC 528 to discuss procedures for the upcoming year, including changes to the graduate application deadlines of both Ph.D. programs and the proposed interview schedule for the Ph.D. in School Psychology.
All other committees can also expect to have meetings in the coming weeks to review and reapprove policies.
Promotion and Tenure
The Educational Psychology Promotion and Tenure committee met to discuss required changes to our P & T document. You will be receiving a ballot to vote on the document soon. If you have any questions please see Sharon Paulson, chair of P&T. The committee also decided on deadlines for promotion and tenure:
• Tuesday, December 2nd at 5:00pm - Tenure Notebooks are due in the Chairperson's Office
• Friday, December 12th at 5:00pm - Promotion Notebooks are due in the Chairperson's Office
Personnel Selection
October 15th will begin the review process of applications for both positions (educational psychology and statistics) in our department. I know that materials are already coming in and the committee will be working hard. Interviews will likely begin in late November/early December. As with last the department will reimburse faculty for meals with candidates.
Joseph W. and Marcella S. Hollis Fund
The Hollis Fund is designed to assist in project costs such as travel or supplies and grants are made for up to $500. Graduate students, all faculty, and staff are eligible. OARSP administers the Hollis fund through the ASPiRE Program. Proposals to the Joseph W. and Marcella S. Hollis Fund are due in IRBNet - http://www.irbnet.org/ - by October 1 at 5 p.m. Applications will be accepted September 17-October 1. Program Guidelines are available from the OARSP website.
